Dr. Lesley Allen, PT, PYT

Dr. Lesley Allen, PT, PYT has always had a thirst for knowledge and especially when it comes to the human body and our health. After receiving her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, she could see the limitations of healing with our current medical model and its disease-centered approach. She began expanding and integrating her knowledge of Integrative & Holistic Lifestyle Medicine with her certification from the Living Well Institute.

The Center for Holistic Healing was created as a facility that would blend the application of Medical Therapeutic Yoga, Ayurveda, and other integrated interventions into traditional Physical Therapy to bridge the gap she felt was much needed to optimize patient outcomes. Patients were thrilled when they realized there were other options than taking a pill to help with their anxiety, depression, chronic pain conditions.

When Dr. Allen was diagnosed with autoimmunity, she was failed time and time again by strict western medicine doctors who continuously wanted to prescribe a medication for symptom management. Aside from much persistence, these doctors were unwilling to even recognize the significance of the underlying autoimmunity and only wanted to treat the resulting symptoms with pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Allen knew there had to be other options available and this is when she stumbled upon Functional Medicine. The new wave of medicine! But, unfortunately, the process wasn’t as perfect as she thought it was going to be. 3 years in, a lot of time, money, energy, and effort to heal and be a good patient, little to no results were observed.

She knew to heal from her Autoimmunity and better serve others, she would need to once again return to school and become certified in Functional Medicine.

And so, her journey of integrating functional medicine and nutrigenomics into her practice for the healing of others began. She knew she had been given this path/journey because this would allow her to improve the functional outcomes of each of her patients.

With time, she could see the need for good quality Functional Medicine services that could actually deliver high-level results was needed across our nation. Making the decision to grow her client base nationwide was the best decision ever.

With a growing passion and fascination surrounding genetics, she continued expanding her knowledge gaining further expertise by becoming a DNA Life certified practitioner out of Denmark. The DNA Doc seemed ever so appropriate, and so it began.
